You walked into the dining area quietly, grabbing your bowl of stew and bread. You sat down towards the back, keeping to yourself as you watched your squad members eat and socialize merrily.

"[F/n]! I've been looking for you!" Hanji burst through the door and waltzed right over, plopping down next to you with her own food rations. You quirked an eyebrow, still chewing the recent bite you took off your bread.

"Me? Why?" You inquired, making Hanji laugh as she shoveled more stew in her mouth.

"I wanted to know if you wouldn't mind taking my place during the survey mission tomorrow." She leaned on the table, begging eyes peeking over her glasses.

"Why can't you go?" You asked cautiously. Hanji was usually found doing something that was borderline insane, so you try to keep her out of trouble when you can. She grinned at you and straightened her back proudly.

"Sonny and Bean have been making such progress! I have been trying different methods to get them to maybe talk or something in the like, and yesterday Sonny moaned at me! I think he was trying to speak with me! Of course, he also could have been moaning from the pain of me branding him, but it was a moan, and a moan means progress!" She continued to rant about her, ahem, pets, but at this point you had pretty much blocked her out. You were glad Hanji had found something she was passionate about, but good god, did it have to be titans?

"So, can you cover me?" Your mind snapped back to the conversation at hand, and you nodded, grumbling slightly. She leaped up from her seat. The grin ever present on her face.

"Thanks, [F/n]! I owe you one!" She cheered, picking up her now empty bowl and rushing out the door. You grimaced at the now cold stew, picking up the half eaten bowl and throwing it in the dispensary. You had eaten all of the bread anyway.

~

You breathed in the crisp night air as you walked the grounds, wondering about what tomorrow will bring. This wasn't your first time going outside the walls for a mission, but you were less than excited to be going nonetheless. You sighed, pulling your jacket closer to your body.

"Isn't it cold out here?" You heard a deep but pleasant voice speak up behind you. You craned your neck back to see Commander Erwin. Immediately, a tint of crimson rose to your cheeks, and you prayed the moon's light didn't show it to him. You had admired your Commander for a long time, ever since he found you and decided to recruit you. At one point, your infatuation became too obvious, so you tried to distance yourself from him, keeping it in your mind that humanity isn't going to be saved if your lovesick. You turned back around, fighting the blush off your cheeks.

"I suppose, but I like it." You claimed. You heartbeat quickened as he stepped next to you.

"What are you doing out here?" He asked, looking down at you. You smirked back up at him.

"I could be asking you the same question, Commander." You retorted, earning a small chuckle from the blonde.

"Please, [F/n], call me Erwin."

Damn. That blush again.

"Okay." You shuffled uncomfortably, stifling a shiver. Much to your pleasure dismay, he noticed.

"You must be freezing. Here take this." He said, shrugging off his jacket and putting it snugly around your shoulders. You cursed yourself for letting the blood rush to your cheeks so deeply.

"Um, thank you. But aren't you cold?" You asked, worried for his own well being. He chuckled again.

"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine." He said. You nodded hesitantly and face forward again, the two of you falling into a comfortable silence. As much as you didn't want it to end, you knew you had to bring up the nights earlier events.

"Oh, Com-, Erwin, uh...Hanji wanted me to cover her for tomorrow's mission. Is that alright?" He pursed his lips, thinking. Then he looked down at you, smiling lightly,

"Sure. Just...be careful out there, okay?" You nodded.

"I will. Thanks, Erwin." You said, smiling up at him. You returned his jacket to him, turning to head back to your quarters.

"I should go...big mission tomorrow...and all that..." You murmured. Her nodded.

"Of course. Goodnight, [Name]." He said, a smile slowly following suit. You nodded awkwardly and turned on your heel, high tailing it out of there as you mentally scold yourself. Your mental chastising turned verbal as soon as you entered your room.

"Way to go, [Name]. You managed to thwart off any guy within a 16 mile radius with your incredibly abrasive manner and awkwardness." You pulled off your boots, plopping yourself on your bed.

"Maybe my awkwardness will keep the titans away as well." You muttered bitterly, before falling into a surprisingly peaceful slumber.

~

"Get up. We're getting ready to pack up." You yawned and rolled over, not bothering to open your eyes.

"Five more minutes." You heard a quiet "Tch", and before you knew it you were sitting on the floor, your head throbbing. You shook away the stars, and once you were able to focus, you locked onto the knee-high brown boots. Trailing your eyes up curiously, you frowned as you spotted an all to familiar cravat.

"Corporal. A pleasure." You stated, lifting yourself up and wiping your butt. He wore the same apathetic expression as he watched you stretch.

"Be ready in ten." He said monotonously, and he turned and waltzed out the door. You gritted your teeth in frustration, quickly rushing to put your uniform on. You had always respected Levi, admired him, even; but he was always extremely cold to you and everyone else, and it frustrated you to no end.

Once you pulled down the collar on your jacket, you walked out, fixing your [h/c] hair in the process. Your bright [e/c] eyes scanned around the area, wondering who else was going on the mission.

'Jaeger, Ackerman, and Arlert...of course they would come.'

You grabbed your 3DMG gear and walked toward Levi's squad, which consisted of Petra, Eld, Gunther, and Oluo.

"Squad Leader [Name]!" You turned around and quirked an eyebrow at Armin, who was nervously walking up to you. You turned your full attention to him, but not before eyeing the other 2, who looked at you curiously.

"I, uh...wanted to offer you this." He pulled out a small loaf from behind his back. You furrowed your brows in confusion, smiling slightly.

"You need it more than I do, Armin. Go and share it with your friends." You said gently. He blushed tenfold and nodded, muttering a thanks before scrambling off. You knew Armin admired you as a soldier, which made you extremely flattered. You used to do the same thing to Levi, with the exception of being closer in age. He would act the same way as you had, except he would never have smiled, and his reaction usually involved the words 'shit' and 'idiot'. You frowned again at the thought of the stoic man, turning back around and walking towards the stables instead.

"Round up, guys! We head out in ten minutes!" Sighing, you grabbed your horses reins and packed up the saddle. Once you were done, you mounted your horse, getting in position with the rest of the group. You felt a small ache in your stomach, but you willed it away, claiming it was just nervousness. Your breath hitched a bit as the gates opened and your squad filed out into the open world.

~

For the first hour that you were out, nothing had really happened. There were a couple lone titans that were easily taken care of, and there had been no deaths. You felt exceedingly chipper, considering the circumstances. Every now and again though, the pain you had felt before would come back, and each time it came at a greater multitude. You furrowed your brows as you rubbed your stomach. 'I can't deal with this right now.' You though grumpily, pinching the bridge of your nose as you clenched your teeth through the sudden pain. That's when you heard the frantic neighing of the squads horses.

"DEVIANTS"

Your eyes widened as you saw the titan crawl towards you with immense speed. You gasped as you clutched the reigns of your horse, quickly moving out of the way. You caught sight of Lance Corporal Levi as he lead his squad towards the titan. You rushed to catch up with them as your breathing became ragged due to the sharp pains in your stomach.

"It seems to be a 15 meter class. It's fast, and it's turns are sharp. Petra, Oluo, Gunther, go to the left and distract it. Erd and [F/n], come with me to the right. We're going to wait until it turns itself and then Erd and I will slow him down by shooting our grappling hooks into the titans heels. Then you, [F/n] are going to strike. Got it?" You shook your head as it swam with this new information, nodding slightly at Levi. He nods once, and turns his head to the rest of the squad.

"Alright then. Go!" Without a second wasted they were heading to their positions, giving you room to maneuver yourself next to Levi. You analyzed the plan in your head a couple times, making sure you understood it and was ready to attack. Your heavy breaths were distracting as you winced as the sudden ache in your head. You watched as Petra drove the titan away with Oluo and Gunther, and when you saw it turn itself completely around you, Levi and Erd turned your horses and set off into the direction of the titan. You picked up speed as Levi and Erd stayed near the end, getting their hooks ready.

"[F/n]! NOW!" You saw Levi and Erd shoot their hooks into the titan, effectively slowing the titan down enough for you to leap. You nod and leap off your horse as you shoot your 3DMG towards the nape. You ready your blades and let out a battle cry as you spin your swords out and leap off the head, turning around to look at the damage done. Your eyes widened as you caught sight of the titans nape.

"Shit." The Titan swung around at you, causing you to leap back onto a nearby tree. You hunched over, the pains growing unbearable. You fell to a kneel, and your vision became spotted. You gritted your teeth as you caught sight of Levi, who had killed the titan effectively. You sighed in relief, though it was strained. You suddenly felt hands grip your shoulders, and you faintly heard someone frantically shouting your name before everything turned black.

~

The first thing that came back to you was your hearing. You were confused by the sound of things brushing against each other and a faint beeping sound that erupted next to you. The next thing that came back was your thoughts. They all came swimming back to you, filling your head with a bunch of questions that you knew you couldn't answer unless you opened your eyes. You groaned as the light flooded into your irises, momentarily blinding you. After a little while, you slowly reopened your eyes again and was greeted by the sight of a nurse with a smile as wide as the stethoscope around her neck.

"Good Morning, dear! Glad to see your finally awake! I'll go get your visitor for you once I'm done checking your vitals." She said in a cheerful manner. You furrowed your brows, confused by this illusive 'visitor' she has referred to. She stands back up, walking over to the set up next to your bed, checking the heart monitor, which you now realize was the beeping noise. The brushing was the sound of the scrubs the healers were wearing. You frowned.

You were in an infirmary.

When she was done, she gave you yet another overly joyful smile and waltz out. When she came back, a certain Lance Corporal was standing behind, same stoic look on his face. You frowned, confused. Of all the people to visit you, why was it Levi?

"You're awake."

"You're observant." You said, sighing and rubbing your head.

"What happened? I don't remember." You asked looking up at him. You were a bit startled to see him sitting next to your bed, his body much closer than it was before.

"You were exerting too much energy on an empty stomach. Seriously, [F/N], you didn't think to eat something before going on a mission?" He sounded scolding, almost as if he was worried. You lowered your head, frowning.

"I was so preoccupied and I didn't think it would have been as big an issue as it was." You snapped your head up as memories flooded back to you. "The deviant! What happened with it?" You asked, slightly solemnly. Your only hope was that no one had died from your mistakes. Levi shook his head.

"I killed it shortly after you missed. It didn't have a chance to kill anyone, don't worry." He said, a little quietly.

"You need to be more careful." The piercing gray eyes seemed to stare right through you. You felt your cheeks get hot as you noticed he seemed to be getting ever so slightly closer to you. You swallowed down the lump in your throat.

"What do you care?" You croaked. Levi closed his mouth, his face looking as if he'd rather be anywhere but where he was this instant.

"I care a lot, actually." He said, just above a whisper. You snapped your eyes up to his, startled.

"What?" He sighs.

"I care about you, [F/n]. I have cared for a long time, and I am sure that I will continue to care as long as I'm alive" He said it like it was the easiest thing to say. You could barely handle what he was telling you. Was it a confession? Or was he saying he cared like a brother would a sister? Or-

Your questions were answered as a pair of surprisingly soft lips gingerly kissed your own cracked ones. You gasp, but after a second, you realized something:

It felt damn good kissing him.

You lifted your hands to his face, entangling your fingers into his dark hair. After he pulled away, your big [e/c] eyes fixated onto his steel gray ones.

"You kissed me."

"Yes." You didn't know really what to say. The admiration you felt for him during training you figured was all because of his strength and rank. You never thought that it could be an infatuation. But when were kissing him, you couldn't help but feel butterflies explode in your stomach. Then you realized you wanted to kiss him again.

So instead of questioning him, you simply gripped his cravat tightly and brought him down, his lips crashing onto yours once again.

Oh yeah, you liked this much better~.

Thank you for writing a story with a more mature acting lady. I like how she is a little snarky and not all giggly like a lot of stories.
